Simply defined, search engine optimization is the process of customizing web pages or a website in order to achieve higher rankings in the search engines. Search engines were created to assist in the organization of information on the internet. When a user does a search in a search engine, the objective is to obtain relevant information in the search engine results. The role of the search engine is to provide the “most” relevant results related to the keywords that were searched.
It was easy to see that web pages that were at the top of the results received significantly higher traffic than those who were not high up in the results.
